During weeks 1 and 2 you built your strength training base by allowing your muscles to ease into your new workout program, and you strengthened your core with stabilization training. You also built your musculoskeletal and endurance base doing interval training to burn extra calories.

That’s right, this weekend marks that time of year again when we all sacrifice an hour of sleep in the wee hours of Sunday morning in order to gain a precious extra hour of daylight to enjoy in the evenings for the next eight months. So mark your calendars and set your alarms because on Sunday, March 10th, 2013 at 2 a.m. we all need to “spring forward” our clocks one hour as we tear apart the space-time continuum warping time as it instantaneously changes from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Sandy Runs a 5K Race and Leaves her Plateau in the Dust

With some additional encouragement from her family, Sandy decided to train for a 5K run — 3.1 miles — to help her advance her fitness goal and defeat that pesky weight loss plateau. Of course it took some extra convincing from her niece, but Sandy understands that this challenge comes with great rewards and feelings of achievement.
It’s nice to have my family behind me,” said Sandy. “And yes, my niece really did talk me into it (participating in the 5K).”
The payoff was sweet! Sandy crossed the finish line and left her plateau in the dust — she now weighs 148 pounds! Last time we caught up with Sandy she had run into the dreaded “plateau,” and she was stuck at 152 pounds.
“It did move me to the next goal,” said Sandy about training for and running a 5K. “I finally got below 150 (pounds).”

Real Stories of Weight Loss – Two Stories from the Valley of the Sun

Amidst red rock, desert mountains, cactus and tumbleweeds lies the Greater Phoenix Area of Arizona. Two people who reside within its limits have made a decision to change their lives through fitness and weight loss—Jenn Reddish and Sandy Aker.
Less than a year ago Jenn arrived in Scottsdale, Arizona after moving from Carmel, Indiana—a suburb about five miles just outside of Indianapolis. Her life is full of amazing trips, a hectic work-life and an ever-changing schedule. At 193 pounds, Jenn decided she could no longer ignore the effects that her weight had on her life, and so she began her journey on the road to weight loss.
About 30 miles to the southeast of Scottsdale you can find Sandy who was raised in Laveen, Arizona; the same place she lives today. For Sandy, the decision to lose weight has far more meaning than simply losing pounds: she made a decision to find the best in herself and in life.
Jenn and Sandy are two amazing people who, like you, have had to overcome life’s obstacles to get to where they are today. Though their goals are very similar, their journeys are quite unique.
