‘Tis the season to be active! Summertime presents you with opportunities to stay active all while getting a healthy dose of vitamin D. Don’t waste a minute of sunshine this season; get out and enjoy some of these healthy activities!
1. Bike Riding:
Ride your bike to your next destination! Rather than driving in a car, ride a bike at 12 to 15.9 mph to your next destination and burn between 480 and 888 calories per hour. Increase your speed to 16 to 19 mph and you can burn between 720 and 1066 calories per hour.* Or just go on a leisurely scenic bike ride for fun.
2. Hiking:
If someone tells you go “Take a hike!” thank them for the advice. Find a local scenic trail and take a hike on beautiful summer day and burn between 360 and 532 calories per hour.*
3. Golfing:
Play a round at your local golf course! Using a cart you will burn between 210 and 310 calories an hour, or, if you’re really feeling up to par—pun intended—carry your clubs and burn between 330 and 488 calories per hour.*
4. Walking:
Take a stroll around town, at the beach, in the park or wherever your heart desires! Walking can be a relaxing way to stay active and burn calories. Walk for an hour at a speed of 3.5 mph and burn between 240 and 356 calories per hour. Increase your speed to 4.5 mph and burn between 300 and 444 calories per hour.*
5. Skate Boarding:
Break out your old skateboard, it’s not a crime! Skateboarding is a great way to stay active and you can burn between 300 and 444 calories per hour.*
