  2. Where can I find part 2

  3. Do you have any exercise to ton up a flabby but and arms?

    • Push-ups will tone up flabby upper arms. Those muscles in your upper arm or brachiums are the triceps muscles. They help you push away from the table so you will not eat any more. Also, sustained holding of the prone plank position works as well if you do not want to use weights. The butt toners are varied with varied machines or you can strap weights on your ankles and position yourself in quadriped on a mat. You can also distribute the weight to your hands and forearms. In this down position raise one of your legs in a bent or straight position , up against gravity so that your upper leg is parallel with the floor , then bring your leg and knee down near the floor. witheither position you gradually increase your repetitions until you feel the strain but not in pain.

How many calories do I need to burn a day to lose a pound or two a week…….I’m 6.5 talk 282 pounds and 38 years old?

    • Brandon E. Lewis

I’m working out about an hour a day. Trying to burn at least 800 calories a work out.

    • klevontey morgan

Hey Brandon, it all depends on how many times you workout per week. However to loose one pound of fat you would have to burn 3,500 calories. So assuming you work out 5 times a week you would aim at burning around 700 calories a day to loose 1 pound in a in a 5 day week

      • Stephanie B.

I’m a 37 year old woman, and I’ve gained so much weight in the past 3 years (approx. 50 lbs.). I am 5’10” and weigh 220. If I want to lose the 50 lbs that I’ve gained…how do I do it? I’ve been told that I need to reduce my calories to 1800 daily, but how many calories do I need to burn daily to get to my goal weight…and how long will it take me?

        • Debbie J., MS, RD

Check the Ask Our Dietitian soon for my reply to your nutrition question there :)

          • Stephanie B.

Thank you Debbie, I look forward to your response. I’m trying to determine what my daily caloric intake should be, and how many calories I need to burn at the gym to lose the 50 lbs of fat that I’ve gained. Also, how should I divide my work-out between cardio & weight training? Which is better? I’m 37 yrs old 5″10″ and 220 lbs. I’ve heard that I should strive to burn 300 calories a day with an 1800 caloric intake…is this true? Thanks for your help, and look forward to getting your advice. P.S. I’m a member at the Sunrise, FL. gym:)

  62. Question: After working out do we need at ounce & what kind of food

  63. Hai I am 46 yrs from India. Fitness is my passion and love to be fit.I do my workouts for 6days a week for 2 hrs daily. I go for cardio .I am 76kgs in weight and 5.10 height. Join me in ur community and post ur guidance for my well being Thank you.

    • Hi, i am turning 55 this month from Pakistan.I would like to and wish I have the same passion as YOU..But I m Inspired..Keep it up!

  64. Great job. You are truly an inspiration…

  65. Is it ok to roll out of bed and go to the gym? Then come home and eat breakfast? Because if I eat breakfast first my stomach hurts if I go then work out and activates my acid reflux.

    • Debbie J., MS, RD

Many people don’t tolerate a meal immediately before working out, especially when still waking up. I often recommend one small thing like a cup of chocolate milk, a banana, half an English muffin, or a couple egg whites that would give you a little “get-up-and-go”. I’d suggest whatever settles in your stomach the best that is low-fat and low-fiber, so your body can process it readily. If your stomach gets upset with even one item, I wouldn’t force yourself to eat. Do have something prepared that you can eat immediately afterward.

Several members have had similar questions and comments concerning morning workouts, so check our “Ask Our Dietitian” section for more responses.

  72. What are the best things to in the gym to help work off belly fat?

  73. Im 49 years old and i don’t know how im can lost weits

  74. I’m a 34 year old male 6’1 and 185 and I wanna flatten my stomach and bulk up a little but not a bunch but definitely get stronger. Do I do mostly cardio or weights? And how much protein do I eat either powder or food and how do I get it without going broke?

    • Debbie J., MS, RD

You’ll need somewhere in the range of 130-150 grams of protein daily, mostly from foods such as eggs, meat, poultry, fish, beans, reduced fat cheese, and low fat milk/yogurt. Vegetables and grains will also contribute, but to a lesser extent. The time for a protein powder is when those sources aren’t available — perhaps in the locker room right after your workout. For the most cost-effective choice, look for a whey protein isolate that delivers about 15 grams protein per serving in a 2-3 pound tub for less than a dollar a serving.

  75. I have a question; I am a diabetic and finding it very hard to lose at least 2 inches of fat off my abdomen and obliques. I cannot fast, as I am insulin dependent and my overall physique is muscular but can’t seem to rid myself of the 2 inches. I avoid eating after 7p.m. and at night I take Muscle Milk, with water and make sure I get adequate protein during the day. I do cardio after my weight workout. I just don’t know what to do.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    M.N.
