Medicine Ball Exercises 101 – Single Muscle Group Exercises

Do you want to look your very best? With this combination of exercises you will focus on individual muscle groups in order to tighten and tone targeted areas of your body.

Single muscle, or isolation, exercises are a great way to focus on specific muscles. This is because you are isolating, or targeting, specific muscles and putting the majority of stress from each exercise on that specific muscle group.

Also, you’ll notice these exercises are all focused on your upper body muscles. This is because there aren’t many single muscle medicine ball exercises that focus on your legs. You are better served performing multi movement exercises that heavily involve your legs, such as the ones in the article below!

Burn More Calories and Work More Muscles with These Medicine Ball Exercises

Medicine Ball Push-Up (with one arm on the ground one arm on the ball)

Muscle Trained – Chest.

TOP TIP – Keep your core muscles engaged throughout the entire exercise.

Progression – Medicine Ball Push-Up (with both arms on the ball)

Muscle Trained – Triceps.

TOP TIP – Make sure the ball is directly below your chest as you perform this exercise.

Muscle Trained – Shoulders.

TOP TIP – Move the ball in the shape of an “8” with your arms completely extended out in front of you. Perform this exercise for 30 seconds to one minute, depending on your fitness level.

Skull Crushers with Medicine Ball

Muscle Trained – Triceps.

TOP TIP – Keep your elbows stationary throughout the entire exercise.

Front Shoulder Raise

Muscle Trained – Shoulders.

TOP TIP – Keep the medicine ball straight out throughout this entire exercise. If you cannot keep it straight out, lower the weight.

Push-Up with Feet on Medicine Ball

Muscle Trained – Chest.

TOP TIP – Keep your core muscles engaged throughout the entire exercise and make sure your feet are in a stable position on the ball.
