What meals can I pack that will keep for up to 5 days, and that will help me lose weight?
My fiancé is a pilot for a regional airline, and he rarely gets consistent breaks during the day. He has odd sleeping habits due to late flights or early morning calls. What can I pack him to eat that will keep well for up to 5 days and help him lose weight without skipping mealtimes? –Sarah H.
You want portable, shelf stable, satisfying healthy snacks for weight loss you say? The nuts and pretzels aren’t just for the passengers!
Get shopping for: fruit cups packed in juice, individual peanut butter tubs, baked bagel chips, 100 Calorie packs of nuts, jerky, sunflower seeds, whole grain pretzels, roasted chick peas, tuna salad kit with crackers, instant oatmeal tub (just add hot water), lower sugar granola bars, apples, snap peas, carrots, and aseptic packaged milk.
Although they don’t require refrigeration, the milk and produce would be best enjoyed cool. For the day of departure, consider these more perishable/fragile options:
Hummus, individual bottle of super green drink, string cheese, Greek yogurt, turkey wrap, fresh popcorn, berries, grapes, banana, celery and broccoli.
He’ll still have to find full meals and entrée throughout the week, but these items will get him through the in-between times.
