1) Boosting your metabolism through pills and powders isn’t as proven as increasing lean mass and exercising. But you can try conjugated linoleic acid –results are only marginal over diet and exercise alone. Green tea is great for fighting fat, and you can get its main compound (EGCG) as a supplement. The following foods are said to boost metabolism: hot peppers, fish, egg whites, water, coffee, milk or calcium-rich substitute, yogurt, lentils, red beans, cinnamon, garlic, broccoli and berries. Whether or not they actually do work, they are all nutritious foods to be included in a healthy balanced diet. If looking to lose weight, don’t severely cut your calories, but eat enough to support your resting metabolic rate. So start eating instead of pill-popping!

2) Daily total fluid needs for healthy adults: in general, divide your pounds of body weight in half, and drink that number in ounces. For example, a 150 pound person should get 75 ounces of fluid. There are 8 fluid ounces in a measured cup, so that’s about 9 cups. Most of that should be water, say 7 to 8 cups. Remaining fluids can come from other beverages. Don’t forget that soups and watery fruits and vegetables contribute to hydration needs, too!
