Hello I am in menopause. I work out almost every day. I have a trainer which I train with 3 times a week, and the other days I train on my own. I have not lost any pounds in a while; what can I do? I watch my diet. I am 56 years old. – Jane
Despite regular exercise, it must be that you are eating more calories than you’re burning. My advice would be to record everything you eat and drink for a week and see if you notice any trends or extra items. Be sure to measure the food and beverage amounts so that you get an accurate grasp of how much you’re really consuming. For the best feedback, enter food and beverages into a reliable diet analysis program. See another one of our blog posts on menopause HERE:

I am single and usually have between $50 and$150 for groceries, but that includes paper goods, cleaning, and pet supplies. I like vegetables, but fresh, especially organic, are expensive and spoil before I can eat them all. Food I can get for the amount I have and will last the two weeks between checks is exactly what I shouldn’t eat. What can I do and does LA Fitness have a dietitian I can meet with?
Correction..I am not a dietitian
Hi… I am not a dietitian or financial adviser… I was running into similar challenges buying organic food … My alternative find was the farmers market… It was local, organic and fresh and most importantly I notice that I am spending like $33 per 2-3 weeks, buy loads of fruits and veggies ..I hope it helps and look forward reply from laf
Hey 56 year old Jane-I am 59 and was a competitive amateur bodybuilder in my 20’s and 30’s. I swore to myself that I would never let myself become pudgy and portly when I got into my 50’s. Well here I am in menopause as well and almost overnight my body changed. I work out, do cardio, eat healthy-I know how to diet. But NOTHING works for me now. Yes diet and exercise are important, but for gals like us it is a hormonal imbalance-our bodies are fighting themselves, holding on to that fat for dear life. So…it is very frustrating indeed, I feel ya my sista, and can just say don’t become too discouraged, just keep eating clean and exercising and hopefully one day our fat cells will surrender. More research and info needs to be out there for women in their 50’s who are struggling with this dilemma.
