ask our dietitian your question todaya - rolling out of bet to go to LA Fitness

question-answer-color-v-2

Is it okay to roll out of bed, go straight to the gym and then come home and eat breakfast? Because if I eat first and then workout, my stomach hurts and my acid reflux activates. Even if I wait two hours after I eat this happens. Thanks! –Chelsea P.

Many people don’t tolerate a meal immediately before working out, especially when they are still waking up. I often recommend one small thing like a cup of chocolate milk, a banana, half an English muffin or a couple of egg whites to give you a little “get-up-and-go.” Choose whatever settles in your stomach the best. Try something that is low-fat and low-fiber so your body can process it easily. If your stomach gets upset with even one item, I wouldn’t force yourself to eat. Do have something prepared that you can eat immediately afterward.
