I had a C-section about 8 months ago and prior to that I was down to a size 5/6. I have been losing weight at a pretty good pace (I’m down to an 8/10) but now I have that pouch and I am having a hard time getting rid of my stomach. I’ve been eating nothing but tuna and a few crackers for lunch and cucumber salads for dinner. What kind of meal plan would you suggest? -Cathy

question-color-v2Surgically cut abdominal muscles make for a tough time getting your pre-pregnancy belly back, as you’ve discovered.  Diet-wise you might find that small frequent meals/snacks will work. Salads should have some protein (e.g. egg white, low-fat cheese, chicken breast) and complex carbohydrate (e.g. corn, beans, peas) for the best energy.  Don’t skimp or you’ll be feeling lethargic. You need to keep your energy up in order to progress and challenge your core. – Debbie J., MS, RD
