How many calories do women over 50 need a day? What are the best sources for these? – Hala

Each person is different, so your calorie intake, aka energy needs, will vary based on height, weight, age and activity level. Counting calories is useful for a week or two to get a better hold on what you’re eating or to see where you are at.

Perhaps eat the same balanced diet you had when you were 30, but now have smaller portions.  Women over 50 still need good sources of calcium, B-12 and protein; all of which can be obtained from milk and Greek yogurt. – Debbie J., MS, RD
