I have kind of a hectic lifestyle. Between work, school, and taking care of my family I’m having a hard time finding the right diet for “me.” I’m hitting the gym regularly, and I’m trying my best to eat well, but I can’t seem to gain weight. I’m ‘6”1 and 161 pounds with a target weight of 180. Do you have some advice, or some sort of eating schedule guideline? Any additional info will also be greatly appreciated. Thank you! – Jacob
You certainly have a lot on your plate! Since your weight is a little low for your height and you desire to gain weight, a bump up in your calories seems in order.
In regards to an “eating schedule,” it sounds like you’ve tried a few diet options. I’d say your best eating schedule will be the one you can be most consistent with given your lifestyle. This may translate into a lot of snacks throughout the day or two main meals with a supplement shake/bar in between. Remember, make an eating plan fit YOUR routine; not the other way around. – Debbie J., MS, RD

Great advice! Thanks for posting!
I have the opposite problem. I am female, 5’1″ and 195 lbs. I work full-time and I’m married with an 8 year old daughter. I’m 48 years old and work out 4 times a week at LA Fitness for one hour each session. I want to lose weight and I have 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. For me it’s easy to gain weight. I’m Mexican-American and I love to eat good food. Any suggestions?
